How to automatically reward new Square Loyalty members

Why Square Loyalty has no automatic sign-up reward

Square Loyalty awards points for purchases — by visit, by amount spent, or by item. There’s no rule that fires when a customer simply joins, which is why Square Loyalty has no welcome bonus out of the box. That leaves three ways to reward new members.

Option 1 — Points for an email address (Square’s only automatic option)

In your Square Dashboard, go to Customers → Loyalty and turn on “Offer customers points in return for their email addresses,” then set the amount. It’s automatic and built in — but it only fires if the customer shares an email, it’s a one-time email incentive rather than a true join bonus, and you can’t vary it per member.

Option 2 — Adjust points by hand (the manual workaround)

Open Square Dashboard → Customers, find the new member in your Customer Directory, scroll to their Loyalty Summary, click the … menu, choose Adjust Points, enter the amount, and save. It gives a real welcome bonus — but it isn’t automatic. You have to remember to do it for every new member, every day. Fine for a handful; unworkable at any volume.

Option 3 — Automate it with Perk (a true welcome bonus, instantly)
